Cartel kingpin ‘Don Dario’ is busted living secret life in California after $10M bounty

An alleged drug boss with a $10 million bounty on his head was arrested in San Diego after being on the run, according to authorities.

“Cartel leaders don’t get to write the end of their stories — we do,” said US Attorney Adam Gordon in a news release. “And once again, the final chapter for a man alleged to be one of the world’s most notorious and prolific cocaine traffickers is here in the Southern District of California.”

Eugenio Dario Molina-Lopez, 61, who also goes by “Don Adario,” is facing federal charges related to the distribution of cocaine. He was indicted eight years ago, in 2019, when he was allegedly leading Los Huistas, based in a region along the Guatemala-Mexico border, NBC4 reported.

“Los Huistas is a drug trafficking organization primarily based in the Huehuetenango region of northwest Guatemala that borders Mexico and is engaged in a massive cocaine trafficking operation,” prosecutors said in a news release.

The US Attorney’s Office said Molina-Lopez pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine intended for unlawful importation and conspiracy to distribute cocaine on board a vessel.
