Jennifer Newsom launches blistering attack on Trump — hours after gunman tried to assassinate him

Jennifer Newsom launched a furious attack on Donald Trump on Monday after his appearance on 60 Minutes following another assassination attempt.

The governor’s wife weighed in after the interview between the president and CBS’ Norah O’Donnell got heated when she read out segments of the shooter’s manifesto.

O’Donnell fumbled through the gunman’s scrawling about “pedophiles” and “rapists” and acted shocked when Trump rounded on her for reading them out.

The president branded her a “disgrace” for repeating the terms and threatened to pull the interview that aired on Sunday night.

Newsom quickly leapt to the journalist’s defense Monday morning, trying to frame the fallout as a misogyny battle.

“My family and I watched the 60 Minutes interview with Donald Trump and Norah O’Donnell last night, and we were shocked,” the First Partner of Governor Gavin Newsom posted on social media.

“Seeing a president speak to a woman journalist with that level of contempt — and a clear allergy to facts — is disturbing, though at this point not unexpected given his pattern of behavior.”

Newsom went on to criticize Trump for creating a culture that “normalizes dominance and aggression toward women and girls” and “leads to internalized misogyny in others.”

The First Partner’s sharp rebuke of the President was in light of a heated moment during a 60 Minutes interview with CBS Correspondent Norah O’Donnell.

Just hours after a gunman opened fire at the White House Correspondents Dinner, Trump sat down with O’Donnell to talk about the shooting — but the interview quickly took a turn when the President was asked about the suspect’s manifesto.

“He writes this, quote, administration officials they are targets. He also wrote this: I’m no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes. What’s your reaction to that?” O’Donnell asked Trump.

“Well, I was waiting for you to read that because I knew you would because you’re horrible people,” Trump fired back.

The CBS News correspondent tried to clarify she was just quoting the shooter’s alleged words, but Trump branded her “disgraceful.”

“I’m not a rapist, I didn’t rape anybody. You shouldn’t be reading that on 60 Minutes, you’re a disgrace,” Trump shot back.

Newsom was quick to defend O’Donnell and “all of the female journalists, and frankly to all of you who continue to be brave and speak truth to power.”

“This culture of misogyny is on all of us, and it has to end,” she said.
