Ben Stiller’s Knicks tweet causes backlash with timing to WHCD shooting

Ben Stiller ruffled some feathers with his celebratory tweet after the Knicks evened their first-round playoff series with a 114-98 Game 4 victory over the Hawks on Saturday night.

The actor wrote “Got it done,” in a post on X and some misinterpreted it as a reaction to the shooting that took place at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner around the same time as the game ended.

Congresswoman Nancy Mace responded to Stiller’s post with, “Got what done?”

Mace’s post was flagged with Community Notes from X, which stated, “He was rooting on the Knicks to win their game against the Atlanta Hawks”

Stiller’s remark came as he was already live-tweeting during the game.

Stiller, who is a die-hard Knicks fan, has yet to address the matter directly.

Stiller was on Celebrity Row for the Knicks’ 107-106 Game 2 loss to the Hawks at Madison Square Garden.

The annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner was disrupted Saturday night after suspected armed gunman, Cole Tomas Allen, got through a security checkpoint at the Washington Hilton Hotel in D.C.

Trump and his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, as well as his administration were all evacuated safety.

One law enforcement agent was shot but not seriously injured.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said that it appeared the suspected shooter was targeting administration officials.

On the same night, Game 4 of the Knicks-Hawks playoff series was taking place at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

The Eastern Conference playoff series, tied at 2-2, shifts back to New York, with Game 5 set for Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.

Game 6 will happen in Atlanta, with a Game 7, taking place in New York, if necessary,
