Nithya Raman and Spencer Pratt are the latest LA mayoral candidates to get a boost in the race. Although former reality star Spencer Pratt may have bested his rivals with his $539K fundraising haul in the Los Angeles mayor’s race, city council member Nithya Raman emerged as the preferred candidate of Hollywood’s creative class based on the Friday’s financial disclosure of the top mayoral candidates.
Raman raised $531K from donors that included filmmakers Ed Zwick and Nick Stoller, stars Adam Scott and Colin Jost, and writers Veena Sud, Megan Amram, John Solomon, Tim Disney and singer Joanna Newsom Sandberg. Former Netflix executive Tendo Nagenda, Endeavor founder Tom Strickler and current head of TV at Lord Miller, Dan Shear, also contributed to the 44-year-old Raman’s campaign.
Actress Katharine McPhee is team Pratt. Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP Pratt, meanwhile, received donations from producer Charles Pacheco of LBI Entertainment, super real estate broker Jay Luchs, reality television producer Jeff Jenkins and actress Katharine McPhee, among others. In the reporting period that started on Jan. 1 Bass has raised $495K, but has a campaign war chest of $3.7 million in total funds.
A recent UCLA Luskin poll shows 40% of voters are still undecided ahead of the June 2 primary. In that poll Bass led with 25% of projected voters, followed by Pratt at 11% and Raman at 9%.
