At minimum, they pushed him a lot closer to “when” he will be fired rather than “if.”

Because this was a weekend in which a more accomplished manager, Boston’s Alex Cora, already was axed by an underachieving team at 10-17, making it feel a little more realistic and permissible to act even this early in a season for a Mets team that is now 9-19.

Because this was supposed to be a soft landing spot homestand that revived the 2026 Mets and instead they are 2-4 on it after being swept in three games by a Rockies team which is better than last year, but in the way a D student is better than an F student.
