Police confirmed they were at the scene following an incident in the early hours of Sunday morning in the Kingsway area of the town, which is just outside Belfast.

Members of the public have been asked to avoid the area, with cordons in place.

It is understood the incident may have involved a car bomb, and no one is believed to have been injured.

Writing on social media, Sinn Féin's Danny Baker, whose Belfast West constituency includes Dunmurry, said anyone travelling towards the affected area to take a different route.

"At this stage, there is very little information, and I hope no one is hurt," he added.
