But when the end credits roll on The Night Agent Season 3, fans of Netflix‘s hit political thriller — based on Matthew Quirk’s novel — will undoubtedly want to see him back in action again.
The Night Agent‘s third season showed Peter struggling to find his footing without Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan) and Catherine Weaver (Amanda Warren), but by the end of Episode 10, he proved he still has the skills (and enough good people in his corner) to take down the bad guys.
Peter kicked off the season by tracking down Treasury Agent Jay Batra (Suraj Sharma), who fled to Istanbul with crucial government intel after allegedly killing his boss. As Peter soon learns, Jay didn’t kill his boss — he was simply trying to flag suspicious financial activity linked to a terror attack! After Peter promised Jay protection back in the states, they teamed up with Financial Register reporter Isabel De Leon (Genesis Rodriguez) to investigate and take down those involved, including Jacob Monroe (Louis Herthum), President Hagan (Ward Horton), FLOTUS Jenny Hagan (Jennifer Morrison). And though Season 3 ended with Peter taking a break from the Night Agent life, it also ended with lots more potential for Season 4.
So will there be a Season 4 of The Night Agent? Has Netflix officially green lit The Night Agent Season 4? Is the writers’ room back in action? And if so, when will the Netflix series return with new episodes? Here’s everything to know about the future of The Night Agent, including Season 4 updates from creator Shawn Ryan.
As of The Night Agent‘s Season 3 premiere date, Netflix had yet to officially renew the hit series for Season 4, but the title is incredibly popular for the streamer, and creator Shawn Ryan gave some hopeful updates about the future in an interview with Deadline.
“Season 4 is not officially picked up yet, but a while ago, in calendar year 2025, they did quietly pick up a writers room,” Ryan told Deadline, adding that the Season 4 writers’ room is already underway. “We’ve been working for a while on the storyline. We have some scripts, we are breaking stories. I think you know from the tax credit, there’s a date by which you need to be filming by; there’s time for us at the moment.”
As a reminder, it took Netflix around three and a half months after Season 2 premiered to announce an official Season 3 renewal, so there’s still hope for a Season 4. It sounds like finances, tax credits, and other behind the scenes factors are still being considered.
“To Netflix’s credit, they want to make sure that the creative side of things is always buttoned up before committing that amount of money,” Ryan explained. “We’re in the story-breaking, script-writing phase, and my guess is, sometime in the next [few weeks, up to a month], they’ll make a decision about officially greenlighting Season 4, and if and when they do, we’ll be ready to go with the scripts so that there’s not that much time between Season 3 and Season 4. I think Netflix cares about their viewers and is looking for ways to minimize the time between the seasons of their most successful shows.”
Since The Night Agent has yet to be officially renewed by Netflix a premiere date has yet to be revealed, but as Ryan said, it sounds like there won’t be much time between Season 3 and Season 4, so here’s hoping new episodes could arrive in early 2027. We’ll be sure to update this piece with any Season 4 premiere date news. In the meantime, here’s when past seasons of The Night Agent premiered if you need a refresher:
Like The Night Agent seasons past, Season 4 will likely consist of 10 episodes.
