Terrell brothers reunite on Falcons in touching 2026 NFL Draft moment

Avieon Terrell has long followed in the footsteps of his older brother, A.J.

The Terrell brothers were reunited Friday night when the Falcons selected Avieon — a 21-year-old cornerback from Clemson — with the 48th overall pick of the 2026 NFL Draft.

A.J., 27, who was also a star cornerback at Clemson, is entering his seventh season in Atlanta, and was selected No. 16 overall by the Falcons in the 2020 NFL Draft.

When the announcement was made, the brothers embraced, surrounded by family at their private gathering.

Their age difference prevented them from playing together at Clemson and Atlanta’s Westlake High School, but the Terrells will now become the first brothers in the NFL to play in the same secondary since Devin and Jason McCourty each suited up with the Patriots (2018-20).

Before the draft, A.J. told ESPN that he was hopeful his younger brother would be taken in the first round, giving him a chance to carve his own path in the NFL.

The Terrell brothers embraced each other after Avieon was drafted by the Falcons on Friday. NFL on X “I want to play against him and see him walk on the sideline,” A.J. said. “I want to see him play and I want him to have his own story somewhere else. I don’t want the narrative to be the Terrell brothers.”

Avieon, the fourth Clemson player taken in the 2026 draft, had three sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss in his junior season, earning him first-team All-ACC honors.

His eight career forced fumbles topped all cornerbacks in the nation over the past three seasons.
