So long, Sambas: Anne Hathaway just stepped out in these trending Adidas sneakers instead

During the sartorial delight that has been the “Devil Wears Prada 2” press tour, Anne Hathaway has worn a string of designer looks from the likes of Louis Vuitton and Versace.

However, in between red carpets this week, she stepped out in a more affordable look in New York City: zebra-printed Adidas Tokyo Sneakers, paired with a plum-hued lace maxi dress.

While mostly out of stock on the brand’s website, the statement-making style is still available in all sizes at Foot Locker — but not likely for long.

Hathaway is not the only fashion-plate star to wear the Tokyo style lately; Jennifer Lawrence wore the white and red-striped version just weeks ago, also in the Big Apple.

Anne Hathaway sported the trendy kicks in NYC during her “DWP2” premiere tour. GC Images The Tokyo styles have become the pair to own this year, knocking the Samba off its perennial number one spot. In recent months, we’ve also spotted them on stars like Kendall Jenner, Olivia Rodrigo and Monica Barbaro.

But famous folks aren’t the only ones obsessed. Our Commerce Partnerships Associate, Brooke Parker, recently scooped up the on-trend kicks before a trip to Ireland, and she swears it “was instant love.”

“They require no breaking in, are light as a feather, and elevate any outfit without sacrificing comfort — if anything, they’re even more comfortable than they look,” she raved.

“Without a doubt, the best shoe purchase I’ve made in years,” Brooke added.

Jennifer Lawrence also wears the Adidas Tokyo Sneaker. BACKGRID The Tokyo also comes in a Mary Jane design with major 70’s vibes. The slip-on style has a flexible sole, and earns high marks for looking chic.

One review reads, “Comfortable, fashionable, and it’s my go-to shoe. I get compliments everywhere I wear them. I have two pairs. I know why they are always sold out.”
