New York Post Composite I used to despise the thought of squeezing myself into shapewear for a slightly more ‘snatched’ look.
But when Skims took off, and it seemed like everyone and their mother was running to Kim Kardashian’s $38 shapwear, I caved and bought myself a pair. And, I still rarely found myself wearing it.
My Skims High-Waisted Mid-Thigh Shorts did the job, but they just seemed to be snatching a little too much — like I was walking around in a mid-century corset laced to the nines. Even if it was just for a special occasion or certain outfit, I could never seem to get used to that feeling. That is, until a couple of years ago, when I came across the Shapermint brand on Amazon.
These garments are about half the price of Skims, and according to reviewers, “much more comfortable” while still delivering an impressive smoothing and sculpting effect. That all sounded a little too good to be true, so naturally, I had to order myself a pair.
And when I tried them out, I could hardly believe the results.
Shapermint is made with 90% polyamide and 10% elastane, designed to lift and sculpt without rolling down, all while lying flat and staying invisible under clothes. For me, this more affordable shapewear also felt noticeably more breathable, even though it still fit snugly. Other reviewers shared similar feelings.
“I tried all kinds of shapewear — Maidenform, Skims, etc,” one shopper explained. “The majority of the shapewear I ordered in the past either fit too uncomfortably to stay in all day, rolled down, or didn’t provide the coverage advertised. I was amazingly surprised to see that Shapermint was thick, held my abdomen in nicely, in addition to being super comfy.”
Shapermint’s High-Waisted Tummy Control Shorts are available in five natural skin-friendly shades, which are currently on sale on Amazon for 20% off at just over $20 a pair. Two-packs are also available.
Hanky Panky is known for its revolutionary mechanical stretch lace. It’s designed to sit lower on the hips for a contemporary, sexy feel.
This top is wire-free and padded with your comfort in mind. Perfect for light workouts and yoga.
With its spring-inspired colors and a variety of shades, here’s a perfect dress for every occasion you have planned.
