Gabrielle Carrington, of Manchester, was remanded into custody at Westminster Magistrates' Court, where she was also charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and actual bodily harm as well as drink-driving.

Carrington, who has over 365,000 followers on Instagram under the handle RIELLEUK, starred in the X Factor live finals in 2013 as one of the three members of Miss Dynamix.

Klaudia Zakrzewska, 30, and Anoush Chyche, a man in his 50s, were seriously hurt and another woman received minor injuries.

The Met Police said officers were called to Argyll Street in Soho at 04:30 BST after reports a car had hit pedestrians.

Carrington, of Broadfield Road, is accused of causing grievous bodily harm to security guard Chyche, who is said to have suffered "life-changing injuries".

She is also accused of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against Latisha Armstrong, a third person hit by the car. She sustained a wrist injury, prosecutor Rizwan Amin told the court.

Amin said that the scene outside the nightclub was a "melee", with "lots of people shouting".

"The full extent of the incident wasn't appreciated at the time officers had attended," Amin added.

The court heard Carrington had 61 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath when tested. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.

Family and friends of Zakrzewska attended the hearing.

She remains in a life-threatening condition in hospital, the Metropolitan Police said on Tuesday morning.

The accused was seen making a heart sign to her friends and family in the packed public gallery as she was led out of the dock.

Her next court appearance was set for 19 May at the Old Bailey.

David Malone, deputy chief crown prosecutor for the CPS in north London, said: "We remind all concerned that proceedings against the defendant are active and that she has the right to a fair trial.

"It is vital that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."
