Russian forces attacked Kyiv and other cities early on Thursday, killing three people, including a 12-year-old child, injuring more than 20 and badly damaging buildings, officials said.

“As a result of the enemy attack on the capital, two people died – a 12-year-old boy and a 35-year-old woman,” Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote on Telegram.

A separate attack on the central city of Dnipro killed one more person, said Oleksandr Ganzha, head of the regional administration posted on Telegram.

Ganzha said earlier that the attack wounded 10 people, including a 40-year-old woman who had been taken to hospital “in a serious condition”.

A blaze broke out at a building in the capital’s Obolonsky district where missile debris fell, and cars caught fire, Klitschko said.

Tymur Tkachenko, the head of Kyiv’s military administration, warned civilians to shelter until a missile alert was lifted.

A drone strike on the north-eastern city of Kharkiv wounded a 77-year-old woman and a 66-year-old man, the head of the regional military administration Oleg Synegubov said on Telegram.

Five people were wounded in an attack in the southern port city of Odesa, the head of the city’s military administration Sergiy Lysak said on Telegram.
