A Tren de Aragua gangbanger in the US illegally has been arrested after his wife was shot in the stomach, killing their unborn baby, while trying to stop him from drunkenly firing at her, according to authorities.
Venezuelan national Luis Marcano-Marcano, 41, was high and drunk while celebrating his birthday at home in suburban Charlotte early Sunday when he pulled out a gun and started firing shots around his wife’s feet, according to WSOCTV.
He claims his wife accidentally shot herself while taking the gun from him, “killing her 7-month-old unborn baby,” according to police reports.

The wife was not otherwise identified, and neither her condition nor immigration status was immediately clear.
Marcano-Marcano was charged with discharging a firearm in city limits — and placed under an ICE detainer over pending warrants the gangbanger faces at home in Venezuela, the court docs showed.
He was initially issued a $1 million bond by a judge who called him a “danger to the public.” However, it was later reduced to just $250,000.
Court documents show he was an illegal immigrant and a member of Tren de Aragua, the notorious Venezuelan gang classified by the US as a foreign terrorist organization.
His case was the latest alarm at the gang’s presence in and around Charlotte in the past decade, retired police chief Walter Kimble told WSOCTV.
“To a great degree, they are a violent gang, as we have seen. … they need to be taken very seriously,” he said.

Neither Marcano-Marcano nor his wife has been charged over the death of their unborn child.
In North Carolina, a person can be charged with murder in connection with the death of a fetus.
The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office did not respond immediately to requests for comment.
