Jennie Garth knew her marriage to Peter Facinelli was over when a couple’s counselor bluntly asked why she’d want to be with someone who didn’t love her.
“That’s where everything hit the fan,” the “Beverly Hills 90210” alum revealed during a chat on “Armchair Expert,” which was released on April 13.
“It was echoing,” she added, “I’ll never forget it. That just gutted me, and I was like, ‘Yeah, no s–t. Give up, it’s time.”
Before the couple’s counseling, Garth, 54, recalled Facinelli coming to visit her and their three daughters on a farm in central California when they were separated.
The two entered an RV and “that’s where he told me he wanted us to get a divorce,” Garth shared, adding that Facinelli, 52, then added, “‘Jen, someday you’ll thank me for this.'”
The “What I Like About You” alum confessed that the comment “infuriated me, that pissed me off.”
The former couple met in 1995 while filming the TV movie, “An Unfinished Affair,” and married six years later.
They share daughters, Luca, 28, Lola, 23, and Fiona, 19. Facinelli filed for divorce in March 2012, and it was finalized the following year.
The actress, who has a memoir called “I Choose Me,” coming out on April 14, revealed in a recent interview that she drank so much alcohol and took so many pills following the painful divorce that she ended up in the hospital having her stomach pumped.

Following that, she checked into the Canyon Ranch rehab center.
“I noticed my light really dimming,” Garth told People about the scary incident and its aftermath. “I wasn’t putting off good vibes. I could see it in the mirror. I could look at the negative impact that that kind of grief and anger was having on me.”
The “DWTS” alum previously detailed the end of her and Facinelli’s marriage in her 2014 memoir, “Deep Thoughts From a Hollywood Blonde.”
