Ex-Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was mercilessly trolled online for drinking from plastic cups as he partied with girlfriend Katy Perry at Coachella — despite banning single-use plastics in his own country when he was in power.
The former pol was blasted as a hypocrite after his popstar lover posted footage of them sipping from red Solo cups over the weekend while they yukked it up at the celebrity-loved music festival in Indio, California.

“This a–hole is drinking out of a plastic cup after banning them for the entire country,” another raged.
Trudeau spearheaded Canada’s ban on single-use plastics back in 2019 when he was in office.

Despite prohibiting a large swathe of so-called problematic plastics, the country-wide law doesn’t apply to all plastic cups.
Still, social media was quick to erupt after the footage of Trudeau surfaced.
“Justin Trudeau, Jun. 10, 2019: I’m banning Canadians from using single-use plastics! Justin Trudeau, Apr. 12, 2026: Look at me smash booze from a solo cup at Coachella!” one wrote on X.
Another said, “All I see is plastic cups. Someone banned them up here in Canada. Who was that again?”

Trudeau resigned as PM in early 2025, more than a year after he separated from his wife of 18 years, Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau.
He then went public with the 41-year-old singer last October.
