Inside superagent Ari Emanuel’s star-studded birthday party at controversial LA hotspot Noma

Superagent Ari Emanuel celebrated his 65th birthday over the weekend in an "intimate" affair organized by his wife, Sarah Staudinger. Getty Images for Netflix Superagent Ari Emanuel hosted an intimate gathering to celebrate his 65th birthday at Noma’s LA pop-up of Noma over the weekend, which included several high-powered pals including Elon Musk, Jimmy Iovine and Larry David.

A clutch of Emanuel’s friends and family gathered to toast the mogul at the $1,500-a-plate pop-up of the Michelin-starred Copenhagen eatery, which has set up a 16-week residency at LA’s Paramour Estate in Silver Lake.

Also spotted at the event, we hear, was Emanuel’s fashion designer wife Sarah Staudinger, and his brothers Zeke and Rahm Emanuel, as well as megaproducer Rick Rubin, Hollywood superconnector Michael Kives, producer Brian Grazer, Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino, producer Bill Block, venture capitalist Marc Andreessen, Brillstein Entertainment Partners leader Cynthia Pett, CEO of Silver Lake Egon Durban, director Peter Berg, WME TV head Rick Rosen and former Dick Clark Productions head Orly Adelson among others.

Since launching last month, Noma has been engulfed in a public relations storm triggered by a New York Times story alleging widespread abuse among Noma employees by its head chef, Rene Redzepi.

This story dropped just days before the top eatery launched its LA outpost with reservations fully booked out.

Redzepi posted an apology on Instagram saying he was stepping away from the restaurant.

A key figure in the New York Times’ story was former Noma employee Jason Ignacio White who partnered with the wage-advocacy nonprofit One Fair Wage.

Together, they organized weeks of protests in front of Paramour Estate where picketers banged pots and pans and held signs reading “Noma Broke Me” outside the gates of the former convent.

It was a less than ideal situation for Noma organizers who brought in several crisis PR pros to try and quell the controversy.

Controversial figure Rene Redzepi is Noma’s head chef. Wire Image As Page Six Hollywood previously reported, several A-listers including Mindy Kaling, “Emily in Paris” star Lily Collins and BJ Novak still dined at the eatery despite the protests.

Emanuel’s comfort hosting an event there suggests to some that the scandal has subsided. Last week, White posted on his Instagram stories that his partnership with One Fair Wage had ended, and the recent opening of a Noma retail store in Silverlake has encountered no blowback.
