A massive fire that lit up a Bronx building Saturday morning may have been caused by candles that filled one tenant’s apartment, according to reports.
The fire started on Leland Avenue around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, engulfing the upper floors of a three-story building, officials said.
Tenants in the building told LoudLabs that a woman on the second floor was known to fill her home with candles, and may have been mentally ill.
One tenant was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after neighbors banged on doors to make sure everyone fled the inferno in time.
