New York Post Composite The Artemis II mission may be coming to an end today, but the Moon joy it brought us can (and likely will) live on forever.
The four astronauts in the Artemis II crew are scheduled to splash down in the Pacific Ocean tonight, April 10, after 10 days in space and a 685,000 mile round-trip.
The first manned mission to the Moon in 54 years took astronauts further away from Earth than any human has been before and provided the first images of the dark side of the Moon.
Ahead of the historic mission, NASA teamed up with LEGO for a new set inspired by the Artemis program. The result, NASA Artemis Space Launch System Rocket building set, is available to shop now.
The 632-piece set captures the moments leading up to a rocket launching into space with fun, interactive and educational details. Using a hand crank, you’ll be able to recreate the separation process and show how a rocket is launched in three stages.
Developed with both NASA and the European Space Agency, the set is a model version of the real Orion launch system that was used in the Artemis II launch (and will be used again in subsequent Artemis missions).
The set also comes with four astronaut nanofigures and an information panel with details about the Artemis program on it.
With this interactive set that includes months and Moon phases, kids can turn a crank to see how the Earth and Moon orbit around the Sun.
This highly detailed set commemorates Apollo 17 by not just building the rover itself, but also the battery pack, heating and cooling elements and the comms unit.
Conduct a test flight with this brick-built recreation of the Perseverance rover, which has been on Mars since February 2021 and is still active there to this day.
