Embrace luxe laziness with the best recliners to add to your home

New York Post Composite The best recliners have a laid-back history — pun totally intended — which is why they’re such a furniture staple.

Allowing you to sit back and relax while watching your favorite show off your smart TV, the popular built-in footrest was born around 1850, when the French military introduced the modern-day recliner that had 3-in-1 benefits: serving as a chair, a chaise lounge, and a bed.

Trust me, my husband, father and brother-in-law all bond about how much they love recliners and how much they need one in their living rooms. When my husband and I bought our house two years ago, this was one of the only things he was firm on.

Now I can attest: I can’t imagine myself not putting up my feet before watching Netflix.

While accent chairs are all the rage (and we love them too), there’s just something about a recliner that’s second to none. For a night of relaxation — perhaps with one of the best blankets we reviewed and a cup of tea — you’ll adore kicking your feet up and simply relaxing.

Additionally, recliners are great options for those with limited mobility. Offering comfort and a place to elevate your legs and feet, it’s the ultimate seating option for those with joint pain issues.

Ahead, find the best recliners that we want to cuddle up in from the best online furniture stores. Whether you’re preparing for your latest home reno or simply need another furniture piece, we’re inclined to say these recliners are the real deal.

NY Post Review: When moving into a new house, a new couch was certainly at the top of my to-buy list. Though I love the look, I didn’t find leather or ‘pleather’ options to be all that cozy, along with some microfiber blends. I was on the hunt for something I could sink into, almost like my mattress, for nights when I’m binge-watching ‘Love is Blind’ (which, BTW, is all the time).

When I came across the McClelland Reclining Sofa, I was sold. It stood out from the other couches my fiancé and I sat on at brick-and-mortar furniture stores — which was plenty. This one had a soft-to-the-touch feel that we instantly loved, extra-wide seats that make for a more comfortable experience, and a fair price tag; spending less than $1,000 for this type of recliner is incredible, as we visited a custom-recliner retailer that quoted us around $5,000 for the exact same material and size.

While it’s manual and not automatic, it’s not at all a deal-breaker for me. Its gray color matches with a variety of home aesthetics and pairs exceptionally well with the Benjamin Moore “Balboa Mist” paint color that I recently coated onto my walls.

Victoria Giardina It also fits oversized throw pillows as well. Shortly after ordering my couch, I picked up a few of them from HomeGoods and was instantly pleased with the overall look. Not to mention, Raymour & Flanigan has the best customer service and delivery I’ve experienced. The team quickly shipped my order and installed it within 10 minutes.

On that note, I actually ordered this couch from another retailer (that shall remain nameless) with horrible customer service. When my couch was continually delayed a week longer every time I called to check in, I ultimately canceled and swiftly ordered the same model from Raymour & Flanigan. The retailer saved the day and kept my move-in plans on track, and I’ll stand by them for most furniture and decor purchases moving forward.

Editor’s Note: The McClelland Oversize Manual Recliner is no longer available at Raymour & Flanigan but is currently available at Ashley Furniture.

Hello, tufted details! We can’t stop staring at the Canora Grey Sandee Push-Back Recliner — a fairly priced option that looks like it belongs in the set of “Gossip Girl.” It comes in a few other colors, too, and has a stain-resistant fabric coupled with a gorgeous look.

The chair’s sleek, high-back design and subtly tapered legs give it a refined, sophisticated look, while its plush cushioning provides superior comfort for long hours of relaxation

I love how it offers the perfect marriage of style and function, especially for the price.

When I discovered the tried-and-true recliner comes in a loveseat form — like the Wade Logan Upholstered Reclining Loveseat — my jaw nearly dropped. It’s the perfect solution for those who love the minimalist aesthetic but also want something practical. Not to mention, two seats offer a better entertaining experience than your run-of-the-mill accent chair.

Whether you’re hosting family movie nights or simply curling up with a good book, this loveseat ensures you can do so in comfort and style, offering a cozy and functional addition to any home.

Simply put, the Joss & Main Santo Top Grain Genuine Leather Swivel Power Recliner is extremely luxurious yet sophisticated. Upholstered in rich, top-grain leather, this recliner features a smooth, supple texture that ages beautifully over time.

The leather’s natural sheen and durability give the chair a refined, upscale appearance as well, making it a striking focal point in any living room or space. Not to mention, Joss & Main is one of the best brands I’ve tried, particularly for bed frames.

This model is equipped with a power reclining mechanism that allows you to adjust the backrest and footrest to your desired position effortlessly. With the push of a button, the chair smoothly transitions to a fully reclining position.

Dimensions: 36.8″ D x 33″ W x 39.3″ H | Type: Power-Reclining | Fabric: Top-grain genuine leather | Key features: USB charger port

This Walmart bestselling rocking recliner is plush, cozy, and exactly what you’ll want to nap in on a lazy day. Along with swiveling and heat in the lumbar section, it offers a soothing massage. It’s not too large, so if you’re on the taller side, it may not be a good fit, but it’s worth considering if you have a smaller space or are not in the market for a bulky chair. It comes with a remote control that’s fairly easy to use, and the massager has five different vibrations to move between.

Dimensions: 34.3”W x 29”D x 40.2”H | Type: Manual | Fabric: Upholstered | Key features: Lumbar support, Heat, Massager

This may be one of the most stylish recliners we’ve ever come across. Most importantly, it’s comfortable and forgiving on the spine and lower back. The seat is wide enough so you can sit cross-legged if you choose, plus the pillow-like back cushion is soft and supportive. If you want a 360-degree swivel and rocking, select it in manual. If pushing or pulling causes more pain, go with the electric style that offers the features at 270 degrees. The recliner can also be ordered with a photo holder, so you can easily view your phone without holding it ( and incidentally, straining your neck), plus it also has a USB port for your charging needs.

Dimensions: 42.1” H x 38.6” W x 39.8” D | Type: Manual, Electric | Fabric: PU Leather | Key features: Can be ordered with phone holder, USB port

What truly makes the Madaha Power Recliner Swivel Glider one of the best choices for a nursery is how well it aligns with what parents actually need: quiet operation, ergonomic support and multi-functional movement.

The ability to recline smoothly while still gliding or swiveling helps reduce strain during extended use, which is essential for late-night feeds and recovery after childbirth. Its plush cushioning and flexible positioning create a calming environment for both parent and baby, while the modern design blends seamlessly into a nursery without looking overly bulky. Altogether, it combines comfort, convenience and versatility — three qualities that define an ideal nursery chair and make it stand out as a top-tier option (oh, and it looks great, too!)

Dimensions: 39.5” H x 31.4″ W x 34.3” D | Type: Power | Fabric: Teddy | Key features: USB charge, premium wood, metal base

The Bellanest Novah Zero Gravity Power Recliner is our pick for those with neck and joint pain, mainly for its adjustable headrest. It’s cushy and supportive, offering comfort after a long day of staring at your computer screen. The chair’s control buttons are on its side, which we slightly prefer to a remote, which always runs the risk of being lost unless it comes with an attaching cord. Capable of holding up to 350 pounds, the deep seat offers lots of space, while the elevated foot rest takes pressure off legs, promoting circulation. While there are no massage or heat features, the durability and make of the recliner make it a favorite of ours and other shoppers.

What customers are saying: “The most comfortable recliner I have ever owned — absolutely love it.”

The Zeke Chenille Wallaway Power Recliner combines comfort, durability and modern functionality to offer the ultimate lounging experience. Talk about a plush seat.

Upholstered in soft yet sturdy chenille fabric, this recliner chair has a plush feel that invites you to sink in and relax. The chenille not only provides a luxurious tactile experience but is also highly resistant to wear and fading, ensuring long-lasting beauty.

This power lift recliner features an electric reclining mechanism that allows you to adjust the seat with the touch of a button. Whether you’re reading, watching TV or taking a nap, the chair offers a wide range of reclining positions.

It’s particularly ideal for spaces where room depth is limited, as it only requires a few inches of clearance from the wall to fully recline. That said, it’s a great size for smaller spaces and apartments, especially if you’re looking for a chair that feels like a sleeper sofa.

Additionally, the chair’s rich texture and neutral tones make it a versatile addition to a variety of home décor styles, from contemporary to traditional. I love its oversized feel, allowing you to truly sink into it. Plus, it hails from one of the best brands to order furniture at, from my experience — Raymour & Flanigan.

Dimensions: 48.5″L x 40″ W x 41″ H | Type: Power-Reclining | Fabric: 100% Polyester | Key features: USB charger port

The La-Z-Boy Vail Rocking Recliner is comfortable and has a sophisticated look. Featuring a cushioned back, padded arms, and smooth rocking motion, it comes highly rated and is small enough for reading nooks and other cozy spaces.
