How to watch ‘Hacks’ Season 5: Release time, cast

After five years and five seasons, HBO Max‘s “Hacks” is coming to an end. The final season premieres tonight, April 9.

“Hacks” stars Jean Smart as Deborah Vance, a stand-up comedian, and follows her relationship with comedy writer Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder) as they navigate evolving dynamics in their personal lives and professional relationship.

Per HBO Max, Season 5 will take place “in the aftermath of mistaken and unflattering news reports that she passed away,” and will follow Deborah Vance and Ava as they “return to Las Vegas more determined than ever to secure Deborah’s legacy as a comedian.”

Over the course of its five-year run, “Hacks” has won 12 Primetime Emmy Awards, including four Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series wins for Smart, one Supporting Actress win for Einbinder, and an Outstanding Comedy Series win in 2024.

The first episode of “Hacks” Season 5 will be released at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on April 9. The final season will continue to drop on HBO Max weekly on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT through May 28.

HBO “Hacks” guest stars this season will include Robby Hoffman, Tony Goldwyn, Kaitlin Olson, Christopher McDonald, Jane Adams, Lauren Weedman, Poppy Liu, Johnny Sibilly, Luenell, Angela E.
