A Raising Cane’s in Hollywood was bustling on Thursday, but for once, it wasn’t because of the chicken.
UCLA women’s basketball team stars Lauren Betts and Kiki Rice showed up to the eatery to work a ceremonial shift in celebration of their recent national championship win, and from the moment they arrived, they caused quite the frenzy.
Several fans wearing UCLA blue and gold filled the parking lot, eager for a chance to get a glimpse of the two.
Cane’s reps, meanwhile, stood by with a ton of camera gear and microphones waiting to grab content from the duo.
And, a gaggle of media members, comparable to the hordes that normally show up to Dodger Stadium for Shohei Ohtani, could barely fit in the restaurant as they crowded around in an effort to get quotes from the newly crowned champs.
Despite the chaos, though, Rice and Betts were as calm and cool as ever.
The Bruins changed into Cane’s shirts and fulfilled all their obligations with ease.
They spoke with reporters for 15 minutes about how life has been since beating South Carolina in the NCAA tournament on Sunday, and then they put on headsets and worked the establishment’s cash register and drive thru.
They fielded a phone call from Cane’s boss Todd Graves as well, and then they wrapped up their day by hopping on a stage and thanking the supporters who came out and showed love.
Both said their priority from here is to get ready for the WNBA — but it’s clear after a week of appearances at NBA games, on late-night talk shows and at fast food chains, they’re going to soak in their title triumph for a bit.
