Micron Technology Inc. (MU, Financials), the memory-chip maker, dipped almost 2% as investors continued to fret about Chinese competition and whether today's favorable memory prices can remain.SanDisk dropped approximately 2.5 percent for much of the same reasons.Micron's largest threat comes from China's ChangXin Memory Technologies, which is developing a DRAM design that might shorten the size of memory cells by about a third and eventually cut the cost of manufacturing."Analysts don't see the threat as immediate." UBS said the technology was very immature, while Jefferies asked if CXMT could scale it up.That explains why Wall Street is still bullish despite the selloff. Micron has an average analyst target of around 74% upside, whereas SanDisk is about 58% upside.Tesla is going the opposite way.Shares rose around 3.5% after the firm showed off its long-delayed Roadster, which has SpaceX-developed rockets that can make aerial maneuvers. But Tesla's more immediate catalyst is a practical one: Third-quarter earnings are due Oct. 21.Friday's split is a sign for investors. Memory stocks still have the better analyst upside but Tesla has the momentum right now.
