Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) shares climbed 1% on Friday morning as delivery estimates for its first foldable smartphone slipped into late January, signaling an early supply crunch ahead of the device's retail launch.
The iPhone Duo, priced from $1,999, opens for retail sales Oct. 23. Apple's U.S. online store lists Jan. 29 as the estimated delivery date for models with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB of storage.

The extended wait comes as Apple looks to expand its premium smartphone lineup with a foldable design. Counterpoint Research estimates the company could sell six million Duo units in 2026. The device features two batteries, a glare-reducing screen finish and a 48-megapixel Fusion camera.
Demand has also supported Apple's latest conventional models. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max recorded 12% year-over-year growth during their first week in China, helping the company capture 33% of the country's smartphone market for the period, according to Counterpoint.
Apple recently joined Nvidia as the second company to reach a $5 trillion market capitalization. The company's standard iPhone 18, iPhone Air 2 and iPhone 18e are expected to arrive around March 2027.
