Social-media and AI developer Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) expanded access to its AI technology with Muse Spark Open, while shares traded at $730.445, down approximately 0.85%, at around 10:04 a.m. ET on October 16. Developers now have more ways to use Meta's models outside its apps. The investment question is straightforward: how does wider adoption turn into earnings? The release does not quantify its expected revenue contribution.

Meta's announcement lists seven hosted-inference partners and describes a model with 816 billion total parameters, 42 billion active parameters and a one-million-token context window. Meta says it can also run on two Apple M5 Ultra Mac Studios. Downloadable weights give developers more control, but the company's license terms place limits on commercial use. Wider access does not mean unrestricted access. And while active parameters represent roughly 5.1% of the total, that ratio alone says little about actual operating costs.
The valuation snapshot puts Meta 15.75% below its $866.96 GF Value estimate, suggesting potential upside if the assumptions behind that estimate hold. That gap is a valuation signal, not a guaranteed return. For shareholders, the next checkpoints are developer adoption, commercial agreements and measurable improvements in Meta's products. Getting the model into more hands opens doors. Turning that reach into profitable growth is the harder test.
