Why is ‘The View’ Showing Reruns This Week?

That may be what it feels like for loyal viewers of the ABC daytime talk show, who have not been treated to a new episode since April 2. Instead, episodes of The View that originally aired in March have been airing during its usual hour.

That being said, these reruns have featured guest co-hosts who filled in for Alyssa Farah Griffin during her maternity leave. Today’s episode first aired on March 17, with guest co-host Carly Fiorina and a visit from Ready or Not 2: Here I Come star Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Fortunately for fans of The View, there is light at the end of the tunnel! The reruns are coming to an end soon, but just how soon, you might ask? Here is what we know about why The View is showing reruns this week, and when The View will be back with new episodes.

As reported by Entertainment Weekly, The View is on hiatus. It is not uncommon for shows to do this in the spring around holidays like Easter. For example, Live with Kelly and Mark recently had a two-week spring hiatus.

Tomorrow’s episode will also be a rerun of the episode that originally aired on March 24, featuring guest co-host Abby Huntsman and an appearance from American Idol judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood. Meanwhile Friday’s episode will be a repeat from March 10, this time, with guest co-host Sheryl Underwood.

The View is set to return with a new episode on Monday, April 13, marking the end of Griffin’s maternity leave, as well.

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
