The CEO of California’s famous burger chain In-N-Out has promised that the fast-food spot will not embrace the current trend of offering online food delivery.
Speaking to an audience at the private Pepperdine University in Malibu recently, chief executive Lynsi Snyder-Ellingson made it clear she plans to keep things the way they have been for customers since her grandparents started the business more than seven decades ago.
The CEO took questions and was asked if the company has plans to do things like mobile order pickup through an app.
“We have for sure had that put in front of us, and the answer is no,” Snyder-Ellingson responded.
“The main reason is part of what makes In-N-Out and the experience so special is the interaction and the customer service that we’re able to give, the smile, the greeting.”
The CEO added: “Just that warmth and feeling the culture. And so, the mobile ordering will definitely take a piece of that away and there’s also the freshness factor.”
The popular burger joint has been busy expanding outside, of California with locations opening in Colorado, Washington and Tennessee.
The fast-food chain is officially heading to St. George, Utah — the sun-drenched “gateway” town that serves as a primary pit stop for millions of tourists trekking to Zion National Park — later this month.
The new outpost is situated right off Interstate 15 just on the other side of the Nevada-Utah state line. It is the second stop for the already popular location of the franchise.
The first In-N-Out was opened by Snyder-Ellingson’s grandparents in 1948 when they launched California’s first drive-thru hamburger stand in LA’s Baldwin Park, according to its website.
Snyder-Ellingson previously talked about plans to close the company’s Irvine office in Southern California by 2030. She also celebrated opening an office in Franklin, Tenn., and announced she was moving there because doing business in the Golden State proved difficult.
“There’s a lot of great things about California, but raising a family is not easy here,” Snyder shared in 2025. “Doing business is not easy here.”
