U.S. stock futures are pointing to a moderately higher open early Friday as investors digest a blockbuster earnings beat from Taiwan Semiconductor, signs of softer underlying consumer spending and the U.S. Treasury's intensifying financial pressure on Iran.

The Polymarket traders, a Polygon (CRYPTO: POL) based prediction platform, are leaning bullish for the Oct. 16 trading session. The "S&P 500 (SPX) Up or Down on October 16?" contract currently reflects a 65% chance of a higher open.

Traders are balancing a string of green index futures against complex macroeconomic crosscurrents:

Positive Index Futures: Equity futures are flashing green across all major benchmarks. Nasdaq 100 futures are leading, up 0.20%. The Russell 2000 gained 0.22%, S&P 500 futures rose 0.15%, and Dow Jones futures advanced 0.11%.

Geopolitics & Oil: Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent intensified "Operation Economic Outcast," announcing actions against an Iraqi bank accused of helping Iran access international financial systems. With Iran's seaborne crude exports reportedly falling to zero in early September under the U.S. naval blockade, global energy markets are recalibrating. Brent crude futures dipped 0.51% to $105.38 a barrel, while WTI crude futures fell 0.59% to $97.39 a barrel.

Economic Data & Earnings: Friday's economic docket includes September import prices at 8:30 a.m. ET, followed by industrial production and capacity utilization data at 9:15 a.m. ET. The day's earnings calendar is heavily weighted toward the financial sector, featuring reports from The Travelers Companies Inc. (NYSE:TRV), Truist Financial Corp. (NYSE:TFC), M&T Bank Corp. (NYSE:MTB), Citizens Financial Group Inc. (NYSE:CFG), and Regions Financial Corp. (NYSE:RF).

Market analyst Louis Navellier notes that despite a "horrific" September Producer Price Index (PPI) report showing a 1.3% surge, Treasury yields actually declined. The market looked past the headline inflation numbers, recognizing that retail sales figures were artificially inflated by a 6.4% jump at gas stations.

Excluding vehicles and gas, retail sales rose a meager 0.2%, and the core control group used in calculating GDP rose just 0.1%—signaling that underlying consumer spending is slowing and relieving some pressure on the bond market.

On the corporate front, earnings are stepping up to drive stocks higher. Taiwan Semiconductor Mfg. Co. Ltd. (NYSE:TSM) delivered an impressive third-quarter print, reporting a 51% surge in revenue, a 69% jump in earnings, and raising 2026 revenue guidance.

Navellier expects that as the third-quarter reporting season winds down, overall S&P 500 earnings will be up at least 33%, providing fundamental justification for current market valuations.

The Oct. 15 Polymarket contract successfully resolved "Up." The contract recorded $37,723 in total trading volume.

On Thursday, the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE:SPY) and Invesco QQQ Trust ETF (NASDAQ:QQQ), which track the S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100, respectively, closed mixed. SPY rose 0.28% to $771.79, while QQQ declined 0.13% to $728.00. Meanwhile, the Dow tracker, State Street SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF Trust (NYSE:DIA), ended 1.08% higher at $521.18.
