Jasper Savage/Prime Video After seven years and five seasons, “The Boys” is coming to an end.
Season 5 of Prime Video’s ultra-violent superhero satire premieres with two episodes on Wednesday, April 8.
The new season picks up with the main characters all living in “Homelander’s (Antony Starr) world, completely subject to his erratic, egomaniacal whims.”
Prime Video’s official synopsis continues: “Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), and Frenchie (Tomer Capone) are imprisoned in a “Freedom Camp.” Annie (Erin Moriarity) struggles to mount a resistance against the overwhelming Supe force. Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) is nowhere to be found. But when Butcher (Karl Urban) reappears, ready and willing to use a virus that will wipe all Supes off the map, he sets in motion a chain of events that will forever change the world and everyone in it.”
Though these final eight episodes mark the end for “The Boys,” the universe of the show will live on with a Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash-led prequel; “Vought Rising” is expected to premiere on Prime Video in 2027.
The first two episodes of “The Boys” Season 5 will be released on Wednesday, April 8.
New episodes of “The Boys” Season 5 come out at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT every Wednesday on Prime Video.
