Investing.com - Futures linked to the major U.S. averages point higher, after equities on Wall Street advanced in the prior session, rebounding from an artificial intelligence-driven selloff earlier in the week. Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh declines to provide specific interest-rate guidance ahead of the central bank's October policy meeting, but says he has spoken with global central bankers about mounting inflationary pressures. Some investors reportedly temper their valuations for Claude-maker Anthropic's potentially massive initial public offering, while Taiwan is said to be mulling over stricter export controls on AI chip sales to China. Elsewhere, Tesla's latest sports car turns in the air.

U.S. stock futures hovered above the flatline on Friday.

By 02:59 ET (06:59 GMT), the Dow futures contract had risen by 75 points, or 0.1%, S&P 500 futures had ticked up by 7 points, or 0.1%, and Nasdaq 100 futures were broadly unchanged.

The main averages all finished higher on Thursday, bouncing back from a downturn fueled by jitters around a growing debt pile financing the AI boom and worries over elevated borrowing costs. In particular, shares of neocloud CoreWeave, whose precipitous slide on Wednesday helped spark the global rout in AI stocks, stabilized.

"Financial markets have calmed a little after CoreWeave stock bounced on Thursday. But the debate between intensifying price pressures needing tighter monetary policy and a tech correction requiring a softer policy outlook continues," analysts at ING said in a note.

2. Fed's Warsh avoids signaling October rate decision

Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh offered an upbeat assessment of the U.S. economy, saying he was surprised how resilient it has proven to be in the face of tighter monetary policy.

But speaking at an event in Thailand, Warsh also said he had spoken with other central bankers about inflationary pressures. He added that it was "not compare notes and hear the same thing about the surge in prices."

As he has largely done since taking over at the helm of the Fed earlier this year, Warsh did not reveal any specific insight into the central bank's rate trajectory. Instead, he stressed that he doesn't "believe in saying now what I might do at the meetings that we have in the balance of this year."

Despite Warsh's resistance to forward guidance, some of his Fed colleagues have suggested in recent weeks that while further rate hikes may be needed to corral inflation, they are awaiting more data. In September, the Fed lifted borrowing costs by 25 basis points, highlighting a desire to cool price growth back to its 2% level.

Markets are widely betting that the Fed will stand pat on rates at its October 27-28 gathering. Earlier this week, wagers on a potential hike this month briefly increased following hotter-than-anticipated consumer price data, but later dissipated. Instead, rates are tipped to move up by a quarter of a percentage point again at the Fed's final meeting of the year in December.

3. Investors temper Anthropic IPO valuations - Reuters

Some current Anthropic investors and prospective investors in its possible blockbuster initial public offering are mulling over a lower valuation for company after a financial disclosure this week, according to Reuters.

The high-profile AI frontier lab has reportedly been eyeing a major IPO as soon as November, bringing to public markets a firm whose Claude chatbot has made it one of the figureheads of the AI era.

Some investors who attended meetings with Anthropic in San Francisco on Wednesday discussed a valuation of roughly $1.5 trillion, which would be down from a previously projected valuation of around $2 trillion.

Media reports said Anthropic told investors at the gathering that its third-quarter revenue had jumped by 45% to $16.8 billion. While the figure indicated robust demand for Anthropic's cutting-edge AI tools, analysts flagged that the revenue growth rate slowed sequentially.

4. Taiwan eyeing stricter controls on AI chip sales to China - Bloomberg

Taiwan is considering much stricter export controls on artificial intelligence chip sales to China as part of a greater alignment with the U.S., Bloomberg News reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The considerations -- which are part of an effort to address chip smuggling risks -- are aimed at giving authorities more legal tools to address diversion of advanced hardware, chiefly AI servers with Nvidia chips, from Taiwan, to China, the Bloomberg report said.

Such a measure risks drawing more ire from Beijing, which has already balked at strict U.S. restrictions on AI chip exports to China– first imposed in 2022.

But Nvidia's advanced AI chips were still seen making their way into China, through reported smuggling through Southeast Asia.

5. Tesla unveils new Roadster with rocket-style thrusters

Tesla unveiled a redesigned Roadster on Thursday evening which used SpaceX rocket technology to jump off a ramp and perform a controlled landing.

CEO Elon Musk said production of the long-awaited vehicle was set to begin in 2028, over a decade after it displayed a next-generation version of its electric sports car.

Shares of Tesla rose over 3% in extended hours trade following the reveal.

The company debuted the model in a live event at SpaceX's McGregor, Texas test facility. The vehicle was able to climb a curved ramp at a controlled pace and jump the ramp at a full inversion before using its air thrusters to correct its orientation and land on all four wheels. Tesla also had the car jump and fly over a set of parked cars and a semitruck.
