UCLA’s Skyy Clark enters transfer portal, opening spot in backcourt

UCLA is apparently going to need another guard to pair with Trent Perry next season.

Skyy Clark, who spent the season’s final six weeks alongside Perry and Donovan Dent in the backcourt, has entered the transfer portal, one person with knowledge of the situation confirmed to the California Post.

UCLA Bruins guard Skyy Clark in the first half during a second round game of the men’s 2026 NCAA Tournament. Kyle Ross-Imagn Images Clark posted what read like a farewell message to UCLA fans on Instagram, writing that he was “truly thankful for you bruin nation. Forever grateful,” adding blue and yellow hearts.

Perry is expected to take over the primary point guard duties for the 2026-27 season, meaning the Bruins will be on the market for a shooting guard or a combo guard – possibly both.

Clark’s next school would be his fourth in five seasons after he started his college career at Illinois before transferring to Louisville and then UCLA.

Clark’s pursuit of a new college home comes with a caveat – he must first be granted another season of eligibility. His petition for an NCAA waiver is based on his having played only 13 games as a freshman at Illinois; Clark left the team after that to help care for his father, Kenny, who was dealing with a serious illness.

Kenny Clark died last May, at a time when he was planning to return to Southern California to be near Skyy for his second season as a Bruin.

His team’s best defender and one of its top 3-point shooters, Skyy sat out 10 games last season after suffering a hamstring injury in early January. Perry moved into the starting lineup when Clark went down and played so well that he kept his spot once Clark returned.

Clark finished the season averaging 11.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 42.7% from beyond the arc.
