Mom says she’ll admit she killed 3 kids as part of move that could keep her from prison

The mom accused of fatally strangling her three kids with an exercise band and paralyzing herself in a suicide bid says she’d cop to her heinous crime — as part of a move that could keep her out of prison.

Lindsay Clancy, a 35-year-old former nurse from Duxbury, Mass., is pushing for two trials: one in which she would not contest her crime and the other to determine if she was sane at the time of the slayings.

If she were found mentally incompetent, she would not have to go to prison, although she could be committed to a mental institution.

Clancy has claimed she was overmedicated and in the throes of postpartum psychosis when she committed the unthinkable act.

“The defendant is willing to stipulate formally in writing to her involvement in the underlying conduct resulting in the death of the three children,” Clancy’s lawyer, Kevin Reddington, wrote in a court filing Thursday.

“With that understanding, the defendant submits that the only live issue for consideration at trial would be the defendant’s state of mind as it relates to the defense of lack of Camilla responsibility.”

Reddington re-upped his pitch after a judge already rejected his bid to have Clancy’s July 20 trial split into two parts.

Judge William Sullivan, in a ruling last week, wrote, “A single trial of all issues will be the most efficient and least confusing way to present this case to a jury.”

Reddington then asked the judge to reconsider his ruling if Clancy agreed to admit to the slayings.

Reddington is not suggesting Clancy would enter a guilty plea but rather she would agree to facts at trial that she killed the kids.

Prosecutors balked, saying they want the case to play out at trial.

On Jan. 24, 2023, Clancy allegedly strangled kids Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan before slicing her own neck and wrists and jumping out of a second-story window at her home.

Clancy, now a paraplegic, is being held at the Tewksbury State Hospital pending trial.

The mom has blamed her doctors in a lawsuit, claiming they didn’t catch that she was suffering from bipolar disorder and at the same time prescribed her up with myriad drugs from October to December of 2022, such as Zoloft, trazodone, Prozac, Ambien, Remeron, Klonopin, Seroquel, Ativan, Valium, and Lamictal.
