Giants sign Lucas Patrick for offensive line competition

The Giants might be willing to trust a man with two first names.

Lucas Patrick, who has started 65 games at center and guard over a nine-year NFL career, signed Tuesday and will enter the mix to fill the opening as the Giants’ starting right guard.

The signing provides insurance against the possibility of losing free agent Greg Van Roten, who hasn’t missed a snap in two years at right guard and also provides emergency center flexibility.

Patrick, 32, does not offer the same level of durability as Van Roten, who has not missed a snap due to injury since 2020. But Patrick started 15 games for the 2023 Bears, 10 for the 2024 Saints and one (in Week 1) for the 2025 Bengals before he was derailed by a calf injury.

The Giants also re-signed 2022 draft picks Evan Neal and Josh Ezeudu — neither of whom played a snap last season — to compete at guard.
