The beloved fast food chain just confirmed that a new, spice-ified version of their beloved Chick-fil-A sauce will soon be available nationwide — marking the brand’s first new, permanent sauce in a decade.
Spicy Chick-fil-A Sauce — a spice-ified version of the brand’s signature condiment that has boasted droves of diehard fans since its release back in 2006 — will be available starting on November 16 in both standard dipping cups and 8-ounce squeeze bottles at all restaurants, per Fox News Digital.
The chain’s last permanent sauce drop was in 2016, with its Sweet & Spicy Sriracha.
While regular Chick-fil-A sauce is 140 calories per 28-gram serving and has “notes of mustard and a smoky tang,” according to the brand, the yet-to-be-released spicy version will include spicy peppers and a subtle sweetness.
Allison Duncan, Chick-fil-A’s director of menu and packaging, said that Chick-fil-A wanted to offer guests a fresh take on one of their favorite flavor experiences at the restaurant.
“We know our guests love bold, spicy flavors, and in our year of ‘newstalgia’, we’re turning up the heat on a classic,” Duncan said, adding that it “delivers an exciting kick to the signature flavor our guests know and love.”
Some Chick-fil-A fans, who were already discussing rumblings of the new sauce before the official announcement after a popular Instagram post about the rumors from food content creator Snackwire on Sunday, have expressed their mouthwatering excitement on the spicy take.
View this post on Instagram “Oh yay!! I can’t wait to try,” one spice lover commented on the post, complete with two fire emojis.
“Why would you post this on a Sunday,” another hangry commenter asked, as the fast food chain is famously closed on Sundays.
“Oh y’all hate to see me lose weight, huh,” said a clear Chick-fil-A fan.
“My man gonna bathe in this,” said another, anticipating their partner will be psyched about the news.
However, other Chick-fil-A ride-or-dies seem to be more heated.
“Probably will barely even be spicy,” said one skeptical Redditor on a post about the then-rumors.
“A big pet peeve of mine is so many food items that say ‘spicy’ but aren’t. I’m skeptical of this sauce too,” added another who wasn’t sure their taste buds would be sufficiently spiced up.
Other fans remembered the spicy chicken strips Chick-fil-A released at two of its two locations near Atlanta, Georgia (the restaurant’s home base) this past year, which are no longer available in the U.S. but are served in Canada locations, with mixed feelings.
“I hated the spicy tenders,” one succinct naysayer said.
“Spicy tenders needa come back NOW,” an apparent fan of the item posted.
Chick-fil-A is feeling the heat from more than just its menu announcement today. In a newly released interview with Chick-fil-A CEO Andrew Cathy on Today, the fast food exec was asked about the company’s stance on LGBTQ rights, which has been a subject of debate since Andrew Cathy’s father, Dan Cathy, publicly stated the company was not in favor of same-sex marriage.
“We’re focused on hospitality, serving great-tasting food, and great service,” Cathy told Today’s Craig Melvin in the “Business in America” interview.
