Brilliant Lady Cruise Ship with adult playground makes West Coast debut

Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady is set to make its West Coast debut in Los Angeles – bringing an adults-only playground at sea to California’s stunning coastline.

Richard Branson’s latest cruise ship will depart on it’s inaugural cruise from San Pedro’s World Cruise Center in the Port of Los Angeles on April 7, kicking off a five-night coastal voyage.

The itinerary includes stops in Santa Barbara, San Diego and Ensenada, Mexico, before returning to Los Angeles.

“This 5-night round trip MerMaiden sails from one of the most dreamed about cities in the world – Los Angeles,” the cruise line said.

“View the iconic Hollywood sign on a gorgeous hike, or soak up the scene in funky Venice Beach before sailing to Santa Barbara.

“Next, head down to sunny San Diego – a city that truly embodies the essence of West Coast living, over to Ensenada, Mexico, then back up to the City of Angels.”

Passengers can book excursions including food and wine walking tours in Santa Barbara, visits to La Jolla’s Seaside Cove and Old Town San Diego, and zip-lining over canyons in Ensenada.

Virgin Voyages markets itself as a kid-free cruise line, offering an adults-only experience with poolside drinking, cabaret shows, club nights and casino-style events.

There are also themed drink events, including tequila tastings, bottomless brunch and a “Grog Walk” – a shipwide bar crawl.

The company said Brilliant Lady, the fourth ship in its fleet, marks “the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter of unforgettable adventures.”

The ship launched in September 2025, beginning its inaugural season from New York City, followed by Caribbean voyages out of Miami.

More sailings are already planned, including a Seattle-to-Alaska route later this year.

Guests can also expect menus created by Michelin-star chefs, along with high-end design and décor, according to the company.
