The Hong Kong Observatory said on Friday that occasional showers – which would be heavier at times – and some fast-moving thunderstorms brought by a trough of low pressure would hit the Guangdong coast the next day.

“The trough of low pressure is expected to linger over the coast of southern China in the following couple of days. The weather will remain unsettled. There will be occasional showers with squally thunderstorms,” the forecaster said.

The rainy weather is expected to continue on Sunday, which will be mainly cloudy and windy on high ground, accompanied by a few squally thunderstorms.

The relative humidity will range between 75 and 95 per cent throughout the weekend until Monday.
