A Holmby Hills mansion that was built in 1939, gut-renovated and redesigned by top interior designer Kelly Wearstler has hit the market for $34.5 million.
The Georgian-style home at 10790 Bellagio Rd. — in between Beverly Hills and Bel-Air — overlooks the Bel-Air Country Club and also comes with views from the city skyline to the Pacific.
While the facade is old-world, the interior has been totally modernized in signature eclectic-chic style by Wearstler, whose clients include Gwen Stefani, Jessica Alba, Cameron Diaz and Stacey Snider — as well as hotels and restaurants including a recent reimagining of the dining areas for Beefbar at L’Apogée Courchevel.
The stately home was asking $37.5 million last year. The seller bought the mansion for $5.1 million in 1995. Everything save the stucco facade has been redone.
“It feels like a new house, but it’s an old house made new,” said co-listing broker Rayni Williams, of the Beverly Hills Estates, who shares the listing with Branden Williams and Carolwood Estates’ Drew Fenton.
The home opens to a grand, double-height foyer and a stunning spiral staircase.
“Kelly was the genius behind this specific aesthetic — the juxtaposition between the old-world home and the gutted, modern, new interiors with funky, eclectic style,” Rayni said.
“This was her dream, and she could do whatever her heart desired because the owners were aligned with her style. There’s a connectivity to each room, and a flow. The rooms are statement pieces — the living room is one solid color. It’s very modern,” she added.
Almost every room opens to terraces and balconies.
“It’s special because it’s a jewel box. Homes of this size are rarely done to this level of detail — from the stone work to the moldings, the millwork, the paneling, the finishes. It’s all very custom,” Fenton added.
At 14,200 square feet, the mansion boasts seven bedrooms and 11 baths. A main bedroom suite features two dressing rooms and onyx-clad spa-like baths.
The dwelling is anchored by an eat-in chef’s kitchen with a breakfast bar, and a large family and media room next to a wood-paneled library.
Design details include a grand staircase; marble, stone and hardwood floors; high ceilings and custom lighting.
The home sits on 1.24 landscaped acres with green lawns, topiary gardens and fountains surrounding a resort-style pool and an outdoor kitchen. There’s also a separate studio.
