Apple Inc. (AAPL, Financials) The consumer technology firm is expanding its smart home offerings with a new portfolio based on Siri AI and Apple Intelligence.The system centers around HomeView, a 7-inch smart display that identifies unique users and personalizes the on-screen experience for them.At $299, the gadget puts Apple in more direct rivalry with Amazon's Echo Show and Google's Nest Hub.The firm also showed off a new Apple TV 4K with hands-free Siri AI and a second-generation HomePod small, which costs $149.But the launch is more exciting because of the ecosystem around those gadgets.Apple is partnering with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric on cameras, thermostats, sensors, a video doorbell and smart locks that can all be controlled through the Apple Home app.That might provide another avenue for Apple to lock consumers into its hardware and services ecosystem.But the deployment isn't entirely worldwide. HomeView will not be sold in the EU at first since Siri AI is not yet available in the EU.The next test for investors is whether Apple can use its massive installed base to drive major smart-home adoption when HomeView and the new Apple TV hit Nov. 13, followed by other accessories in December.
