Mamdani recycles former mayor’s footage to celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day

The Mamdani administration recycled old footage from a prior mayor’s staff to celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day — while skipping any mention of Italian-American New Yorkers or his hated Columbus Day.

Mamdani’s young socialist crew, who are known for their obsession with their digital presence, phoned it in for the Native Americans in the Big Apple on Monday, opting to forgo fresh footage and instead repurpose clips that highlighted the history of the Lenape last year.

Mamdani admin recycled old footage for Indigenous Peoples’ Day @NYCMayor / Facebook “Glad to see @NYCMayor celebrate the Lenape people today,” Fabien Levy, who worked as deputy mayor of communications under Mamdani’s predecessor Eric Adams, posted on social media.

“But it’s concerning to see him devalue the Lenape by just repurposing whole chunks of video Mayor Adams put out 2 years ago for NYC 400,” Levy added.

The social posts from the mayor cut up the nearly two-minute video giving an overview of the community’s history in the region, which was made to celebrate the city’s 400th anniversary last year.

“Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day to the Indigenous New Yorkers who continue to shape our city, sustain ancestral traditions, and carry forward generations of resilience,” one post reads.

“From Inwood Hill Park to the shores of the Rockaways, Indigenous history is all around us. Long before New York City bore its name, this land was home to the Lenape people,” another says.

Mamdani did not give a shout out to Italian-Americans, some of who were riled up by the mayor skipping Manhattan’s Columbus Day parade.

Hizzoner has made no secret of his distaste for the Genoa-born Columbus, posting a picture on social media of him flipping the middle finger at a statue of the explorer in a call to have the monument removed.

City Hall did not respond about the recycled content.
