CloseA five-time US giant pumpkin contest winner tells the BBC he'd "love" to break the world record for a second time.

Horticulture teacher Travis Gienger hauled his pumpkin from Minnesota to Half Moon Bay, California, for the annual pumpkin weighing event.

His whopping gourd took home the prize, tipping the scales at 2,389 pounds (1,083kg).

But Gienger says he's eyeing off a different prize – the world record title – which was set in England's south coast last week with a squash weighing in at 2,857 pounds (1,300kg).

As a previous holder of the world-record mantle, Gienger says he's focused on the challenge ahead.
