An armed man in East Los Angeles sent a barrage of gunfire at Los Angeles Sheriff’s deputies in a standoff early Wednesday morning. The violent scene was captured on video.
Deputies utilized an armored vehicle, likely to deflect oncoming fire from the suspect.
The standoff started when deputies responded to a residence located in the area of Noakes Street and South Downey Road shortly before 2 a.m. following a report of someone threatening to hurt themselves.

Some of the gunfire exchange is caught on video. Several loud gunshots are heard coming from the residence before the armored vehicle is seen backing away from the residence and emergency crews arrived to provide medical care.
The gunfire exchange killed the suspect, a sheriff’s spokesperson told KTLA. The suspect initially fired at deputies, and the return fire killed the armed man.
The standoff drew a heavy police presence. At least nine deputies, five police cars, and a helicopter were on scene. Several deputies were scene with long guns.
There were no reports of deputies injured on scene.
Details about the suspect remain unclear. The suspect’s family, including their father and brother, were on scene.
