Star Gotham FC rookie Jordynn Dudley out for year with foot fracture

Make New York Post a Preferred Source Jordynn Dudley’s rookie campaign with the NWSL is over.

The young Gotham FC star was placed on the season-ending injury list after she suffered a foot fracture in training earlier this month, the club announced.

Dudley, a two-time Rookie of the Month winner, was a candidate to take home Rookie of the Year award honors prior to the injury that occurred ahead of Gotham’s 1-1 draw against Angel City FC on Oct. 4.

“We’re disappointed for Jordynn after the outstanding rookie season she has had,” Gotham president of soccer operations Yael Averbuch West said in a statement. “She made an impact all over the field and played an important role in our push for the NWSL Shield and strong finish to the 2026 campaign. We’ll support Jordynn throughout her recovery and do everything we can to help her return healthy for next season.”

Dudley’s play captured the attention of U.S. women’s national team head coach Emma Hayes and led to her being selected for the U-23 camp, but she had to be replaced on the roster due to the injury.

Comments made by Gotham FC head coach Juan Carlos Amorós, which were reported by South Ward Central, didn’t initially raise any alarm bells.

He had described it as Dudley getting “a little bit hurt on her foot.”

She was viewed as one of the top college prospects in this year’s class of players turning pro.
