Identity of homeless man who randomly stabbed woman in neck on DTLA street revealed

The homeless man who randomly stabbed a woman in the neck as she walked down the street in downtown Los Angeles Tuesday morning has been identified.

Kenneth Gibson, 39, faces attempted murder charges for the unprovoked attack on an unidentified woman on Hope Street near Olympic Boulevard around 10:15 a.m., according to the LAPD.

The victim, who police described as between 60 and 70 years old, was walking along the street as Gibson passed in the other direction before he suddenly stabbed her without warning.

A physician’s assistant in the area at the time of the attack rushed over and applied pressure to the woman’s neck, which “assisted in saving the victim’s life,” said LAPD Central Division Lt. James Mankey.
