Nathan Fillion‘s crime drama The Rookie recently returned to ABC with an exciting new season that has already left viewers wondering when the show will be back with new episodes, well before the season has even concluded.
Fillion stars in the hit ABC series as Officer John Nolan, who became the oldest rookie in the force when he joined the LAPD after a life-altering incident.
The Rookie Season 8 follows Nolan and his colleagues as they race to save kidnapping victims, solve a murder committed in broad daylight, hunt down an arsonist and more. But this season also shows Nolan battling some troubles of his own as he attempts to navigate his long-distance relationship with Bailey.

Deadline reports The Rookie is expected to be renewed for another season and conversations with the show’s lead studio Lionsgate TV have already commenced, according to sources with knowledge of the matter.
However, the outlet reports the show may face budget cuts if it is renewed for another season.
ABC also ordered the pilot for a spinoff series based on a similar premise. Jay Ellis will lead The Rookie: North about a man who attempts to solve his midlife crisis by joining the Pierce County Police Department in Washington.
Fortunately for fans, there are still quite a few episodes left to enjoy in The Rookie Season 8 before Season 9 is confirmed.
Season 8 will have nine episodes, which means there are two more episodes left in the season.
New episodes of The Rookie air on ABC Mondays at 10 p.m. EST and stream next day on Hulu.
