Slumber Cloud’s sheets with NASA temperature regulating technology are out of this world

New York Post Composite I’ve slept on a lot of bedding in my life (think: luxury cotton, sateen, bamboo, linen blends and even some fancy high-end Tencel sheets), but nothing has come close to the sleeping experience I’ve had with the Slumber Cloud Performance Cotton Sheet Set.

I say that honestly and without reservation — these are the best cooling sheets I’ve ever tested, and the margin by which they outperform everything else in my linen drawer feels almost unfair.

From the moment I first pulled them out of the packaging and laid them across my mattress, I knew this was a different breed of sheet. These aren’t just soft (even though they are!) — but engineered in a way that genuinely transformed my nightly comfort.

I slept noticeably cooler and more deeply than with any other set I’ve used.

If you’ve never met Slumber Cloud, imagine the love child of a luxury bedding boutique and a science lab with a vendetta against night sweats. This is the brand that looked at overheated, blanket-kicking, 3 a.m. sheet-flipping madness and said: absolutely not.

“Slumber Cloud is a performance bedding company,” Willy Van Dehy, CEO of Slumber Cloud with more than 10 years in the bedding industry, exclusively shared with Post Wanted.

“We are not just another direct-to-consumer home goods brand that sells the same sheets as you might find in a retail store only with better branding. We focus entirely on the science of sleep and temperature and build products to solve every night sleep problems.”

Built around temperature-regulating technology originally developed for NASA, Slumber Cloud designs bedding that actively absorbs excess heat when you’re warm and releases it back when you cool down.

Slumber Cloud turns everyday bedding into performance gear, minus the sterile, space-age vibe. It’s for hot sleepers, couples who wage thermostat wars and anyone who believes waking up refreshed should be the norm, not a pleasant surprise.

The first thing I noticed before even crawling into bed was the feel of the fabric. The blend of cotton with temperature-regulating fibers somehow manages to feel both substantial and airy at the same time, like a breathable embrace rather than a layer that traps heat underneath you.

Some high thread count sheets that feel overly thick or almost too silky, but these have a lived-in cotton hand feel that’s incredibly comforting but still incredibly cool to the touch.

Size options: Twin to California King | Color options: 4 | Key features: NASA Cooling Technology, Cotton feel, Breathable fabric | Materials: 300 thread count 30% Outlast viscose, 70% cotton

Care instructions: Machine wash cold water on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent and with like colors only. Do not use fabric softener. Only use non-chlorine bleach when needed. Tumble dry low heat until completely dry. Remove from dryer immediately. Do not dry clean. Do not iron.

Slumber Cloud recommends washing the sheets every 1-2 weeks, and removing them from the dryer immediately helps prevent them from wrinkling.

“Our mission is to use advanced technology to fix the ‘microclimate’ of your bed, or the space between your mattress and top covers where you sleep at night,” Van Dehy shared. “We start with [the brand’s proprietary] Outlast technology as our base. Then, we use our factory relationships to engineer new fabric blends.”

In mixing Outlast with materials like tencel and cotton to create a sleep system, it boasts managing heat better than any standard bedding. “We are here to provide a real solution for people who struggle to stay comfortable at night,” Van Dehy drives home.

There’s a smooth, almost gliding quality to them, but they never feel slippery or synthetic. It’s that sweet spot between durability and softness that just feels right against your skin.

The story of Slumber Cloud’s Outlast technology began in 1988. In a nutshell, NASA needed a way to protect astronauts from the extreme heat and cold in space. According to Van Dehy, NASA helped create Phase Change Materials (PCMs).

“We house the PCMs inside tiny, incredibly tough shells called Thermocules,” he explained. “This is a key part of the science. When the material inside gets hot, it turns into a liquid to soak up heat. Without the shell, that liquid would just run out or get messy.”

The Thermocule shell keeps the liquid locked inside so it can never escape. “This process is a two-way street. When your body temperature drops or the air gets too cool, that stored energy is released back to you,” Van Dehy added. “The liquid turns back into a solid, giving off warmth to keep you in that perfect ‘Goldilocks’ zone.”

Because these shells are so strong and permanently bonded to the fibers, you can wash your bedding just like traditional sheets. The cooling and warming power will not wash out.

“We test this through rigorous research and sleep studies,” Van Dehy highlighted. “Outlast studies show that using this technology can lead to 50% less sweat and 20% better sleep. It keeps your temps in a perfect ‘comfort zone’ so you do not wake up from temperature spikes or chills.”

From unboxing my sheets to catching those dreamy ZZZs, the entire process of trying my Slumber Cloud sheets has been just what I needed to inch toward a better night’s sleep.

I know what you’re thinking: these sheets are expensive. Yes, they are an investment, but allow me to provide you with some value-driven perspective:

“When you buy Slumber Cloud, you are investing in a thermal regulator. If you get 20% more deep sleep, the cost is only about 10 cents a night over 5 years. “It’s an investment in your health and your energy for the next day,” Van Dehy added. “You spend a third of your life in bed; it makes sense to use the best technology available.”

Think about how much you spend on the extra cup of coffee or energy drink in the morning and how a better night’s sleep can replace that.

Placing them on the mattress was refreshingly painless. I’ve certainly struggled with fitted sheets that pop off the corners or bunch up mid-night (literally, the bane of my existence after washing some bed sheets), but these stayed put like they were tailor-made for our bed. They fit our high-profile mattress with what feels like zero effort. They’re designed to fit up to a 16-inch deep mattress, and honestly, that generous fit was a big deal for me; I love sheets that feel secure and don’t creep up as soon as I get in bed.

What’s truly iconic about these sheets — and why I keep reaching for them night after night — is how cool they keep me (and my husband). I’m a notoriously hot sleeper. I run warm, toss the covers off and wake up with night sweats more often than not. My husband runs a bit cooler, so finding bedding that strikes a balance between the two of us has always been a challenge. With these sheets, that challenge just… disappeared.

There’s a real, tangible cooling effect that lasts throughout the night, not just for the first hour or two before heat builds up. It isn’t a gimmick — it’s NASA cooling technology.

If it’s good enough for astronauts, you best believe it’ll kiss night sweats goodbye.

My husband has even commented several times that he feels more comfortable at night now, which for us is a pretty big deal. Admittedly, we have both woken up in the middle of the night before, drenched in sweat (it happens!) and begrudgingly stripped off my bedding to cool down. That just doesn’t happen with these sheets. Even on nights when the room feels warmer than ideal, these stay cool enough that I don’t wake up tossing and turning with discomfort. It’s honestly been one of those surprises that sounds trivial until you experience it.

I’d go so far as to say these sheets have improved my sleep quality — not just in comfort but in actual restful sleep.

Oh, and the brand’s UltraCool Pillow also made me rethink how important the “cold side of the pillow” feeling is. No longer do I have to flip, and it’s also hypoallergenic to especially cater to those with allergies. It’s not too firm, nor too soft, holding the ideal Goldilocks feel.

Softness and cooling performance are one thing, but longevity and care also matter to me. After several weeks of use and regular washing on gentle cycles (as recommended), they’ve held up beautifully. They don’t pill, they don’t shrink and they’ve become just a bit softer with each wash, like a favorite cotton tee that somehow stays cool and comfortable even as it breaks in. The fabric doesn’t show signs of wear, and the color has remained true and vibrant, which are qualities I always look for in bedding I plan to keep around for years.

People talk about sheets feeling “cool” or “breathable,” and sure, many do. But this set stands head and shoulders above most because it actually helps regulate temperature rather than just letting air pass through. That subtle difference is what makes sleeping on them feel like a real upgrade.

Slumber Cloud is the best pair of cooling sheets I’ve tested, and I believe it truly boils down to its materials. “Other brands might use smooth fibers like polyester or nylon,” Van Dehy said. “These feel very cold to the touch for about five minutes, but once your body heat warms them up, they stop working.”

Slumber Cloud is different because it uses proactive Phase Change Materials as the base to every product. “Instead of just moving sweat around or feeling cold for a moment, our Outlast technology actually absorbs and stores the heat energy to cool you down,” he added. “We are the only bedding brand with the Certified Space Technology seal. This means our products meet a scientific standard that retail brands simply cannot match.”

Here’s an overview of how Slumber Cloud compares to other quality sheets:

Victoria McDonnell Comfort is deeply personal, and taste in bedding can vary widely, but with these sheets, I feel like I’ve found a rare combination of features that just works: they’re cool without being cold, soft without being flimsy and sturdy without feeling heavy. I’ve had plenty of performance-oriented sheets that promised cooling or breathability, but most felt too light and insubstantial or were so slick they didn’t feel cozy.

This set strikes a balance that feels natural and effortless.

I couldn’t recommend the Slumber Cloud Performance Cotton Sheet Set more. Whether you sleep hot, share a bed with someone who doesn’t or you simply want bedding that feels as good as it performs, these sheets are worth every penny. They’ve made such a noticeable difference in my sleep experience that I wouldn’t go back to ordinary sheets willingly. If you’re serious about cooling, comfort and quality in your bedding, these are, hands down, the best.

Victoria McDonnell Cooling performance: I evaluated how effectively the Slumber Cloud cooling sheets dissipated heat and regulated temperature throughout the night, especially during warmer conditions. Moisture management: I assessed how well the sheets wicked away sweat and moisture to keep the sleep surface dry and comfortable. Softness and comfort: I tested the texture and feel of the fabric against the skin, noting smoothness, breathability and overall comfort over multiple nights. Fit and stay-put design: I examined how securely the fitted sheet stayed on the mattress, including corner depth, elastic strength and resistance to slipping. Durability after washing: I washed and dried the sheets according to care instructions to observe any changes in softness, cooling ability, shrinkage or fabric wear.
