Disney cruise passengers trapped on board as bomb threat shuts major California port

A bomb threat shut down a major California cruise ship terminal in downtown San Diego on Monday morning.

San Diego Harbor Police locked down the B Street Cruise Terminal on Harbor Drive after receiving what they described as an “unspecified bomb threat.”

Harbor Police Sgt. Jose Torres said an employee at the terminal received the threat around 7 a.m., and the terminal was locked down “out of an abundance of caution” for police Explosive Detection Canine Units to search the premises.

The Disney Wonder was among the vessels docked at the terminal, with its passengers unable to disembark while the search was underway.

Disney responded by reaffirming its reputation for safety, emphasizing its commitment to protecting guests and crew.

“The ships are immaculate, the staff ratios are generous, the security protocols are visible from the moment you step into a terminal, and the entire operation runs with the kind of precision that makes parents feel comfortable handing over a week of their family’s life to a floating resort,” said the statement published on Disney fan website Inside the Magic.

“For most guests, a Disney cruise is the definition of controlled, curated, worry-free travel. Nothing unexpected happens.

“Nothing goes wrong that Disney cannot immediately manage with a smile and a cast member in a pressed uniform,” the statement continued.

Guests who were packed and ready to leave had to remain on board while the investigation proceeded.

Footage from inside the ship showed passengers clustered in the atrium, luggage in tow, anxiously waiting for word on when they could finally disembark.

After nearly two hours, police gave the all-clear, and passengers were finally allowed to disembark. Officials have yet to release any updates.
