Make New York Post a Preferred Source Kim Kardashian has patched things up with Martin Brundle at the Singapore Grand Prix after she snubbed him in Monaco earlier this year.
Kardashian was at the Marina Bay Circuit in Singapore over the weekend to support her partner Lewis Hamilton, and she was on the track for Brundle’s pre-race grid walk.
She copped backlash when she gave Brundle the cold shoulder when he approached her on the grid in Monaco, and went viral for taking race winner Kimi Antonelli’s towel in an unfortunate faux pas.
But Kardashian was more than happy to chat to Brundle in Singapore, telling him: “Did I not know the rules? Did we get off on the wrong foot?” and patting him on the arm.
“No, it’s absolutely fine, lovely to see you again at a Grand Prix,” Brundle replied.
“I think it is amazing and fun and wild, and something I’ve never seen before,” Kardashian replied.
“He (Lewis Hamilton) is (in great form). I’m just praying for the best tonight.
“Yes, (Lewis is) very confident, and so am I. Just got to pray for the best.”
Hamilton, 41, and Kardashian, 45, went public with their relationship earlier this year.
Unfortunately it was a day to forget for Hamilton in Singapore as a disastrous strategy from Ferrari crushed his chance at a certain podium finish after he qualified third fastest.
Hamilton opted not to pit under a Virtual Safety Car, a decision that proved costly as he lost pace on old tires and tumbled down the order to finish sixth.
Hamilton, who was told to let teammate Charles Leclerc overtake him, took responsibility for the strategy blunder on team radio after the race.
“Sorry boys. I let you down today with that strategy,” Hamilton said.
“I’ll try and make up for it in the next one. Great job with the pit stop though.”
Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur said the team wanted to pit both Leclerc and Hamilton during the VSC period in a “double stack” pit stop, but Hamilton opted to stay out on track. He was called into the pits afterwards.
“It was entirely Lewis’s decision,” Vasseur said. “We called him into the pits, but he didn’t come in. It’s a real shame because he would have finished P3. I’m disappointed because we could have had both cars on the podium, but instead we finished sixth.
“We kept the door open for the two options, depending on VSC, and that was the case. We called him, we called them both to pit. It would have been P2-P3 because we were P2-P3 on track, and he missed the pit entry, and honestly it’s a bit of a shame because he’s losing a podium also.
“It was crystal clear on the radio. But now let’s be focused on Austin. The performance this weekend was ok. We have to be focused on the future.”
Hamilton felt unwell after completing the race and was seen to by medical stuff, skipping post-race media duties.
Australia’s Oscar Piastri passed Hamilton on the closing laps to finish fifth, one spot behind his teammate Lando Norris.
Piastri had a slow 4.2 second pit stop and an unscheduled pit stop for a tyre puncture, but managed to finish one spot ahead of where he started the race.
Max Verstappen led from start to finish to claim his first ever win in Singapore, completing a perfect weekend after he also won Saturday’s sprint race to take a maximum haul of points.
He finished ahead of Charles Leclerc and Kimi Antonelli.
Verstappen has won two races in a row but the four-time world champion still trails championship leader Antonelli by 119 points and Red Bull’s resurgence has come too late in the season for him to challenge for the title.
George Russell started from the back of the grid after exceeding his allocation of new engines, and finished ninth.
Antonelli can mathematically wrap up the title at the USA Grand Prix in Austin in a fortnight.
Verstappen is fourth in the drivers’ standings but only 19 points second-placed Russell.
