Anthony Edwards candidly explains why he missed start of Mavericks game: ‘I was taking a s—t’

Anthony Edwards was nowhere to be found at the start of the Timberwolves vs. Mavericks game on Monday night, but his absence had nothing to do with his recent injury.

No, Edwards said a bathroom break was what caused his delayed appearance.

“I was taking a s—t,” the Minnesota star admitted.

Edwards, who had missed the Wolves’ last six games while dealing with a knee issue, was supposed to start Minnesota’s road tilt with Dallas, but his emergency trip to the toilet meant Mike Conley had to fill in.

Edwards eventually subbed in for the veteran guard a minute-or-so into the first quarter, and after the Timberwolves went on to win, 124-94, he thanked his teammate for stepping up.

“Mike held it down for me,” Edwards said.

Edwards played a total of 22 minutes in the victory, and tallied 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting. He added two rebounds and four assists.

As for if his coach, Chris Finch, had any hard feelings about Edwards needing a few extra warmup minutes on Monday night, the sideline manager appeared to more than understand the situation.

“I mean,” Finch said. “Nature calls.”
