Apple (AAPL:NASDAQ) is about to open preorders for a new Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. In his Power On newsletter on Sunday, October 11, Gurman reported that both devices will be unveiled on Tuesday, October 13 and reach stores on Friday, October 30. In a follow-up video on X, he said preorders should start this week.
Apple has confirmed only the date, through a "Welcome home" teaser from marketing chief Greg Joswiak. The stock trades at about $337, after falling more than 2.5% in early trading on Friday, October 9 on a Nikkei Asia report that Apple cut iPhone 18 Pro component orders.
Gurman says the Apple TV 4K gets an A19 chip and the HomePod mini an S10, with HomeView, Apple's new smart home hub, following around mid-November. The current HomePod mini dates to October 2020.
On his Power On podcast on October 8, Gurman tied the timing to one thing: "They'll rely on Siri AI." These devices are how Apple puts its new assistant in the living room.
Wearables, Home and Accessories, where both products sit, has shrunk for three straight years: from $41.24 billion in fiscal 2022 to $35.69 billion in fiscal 2025, down about 13%. Its share of revenue fell from 10.5% to 8.6%.
Services went the other way, rising from $68.43 billion in fiscal 2021 to $109.16 billion in fiscal 2025. That's about 60% growth, and Services now makes up 26.2% of sales, three times the home and wearables line.
A refresh won't fix that math. A 10% lift to Wearables, Home and Accessories would add about $3.6 billion, under 1% of Apple's $416.16 billion in fiscal 2025 revenue.
The stronger argument is pull-through. Apple began rolling out Apple TV and Apple Arcade with paid iCloud+ plans in more than 100 countries during September, giving a faster Apple TV box another potential role in its Services bundle. TIKR's segment data can't isolate how much hardware feeds Services, though.
Tuesday's pricing sets the competitive read. A HomePod mini with working Siri AI near today's price hits Sonos (SONO:NASDAQ) hardest, since speakers are its core business. Amazon (AMZN:NASDAQ) and Alphabet (GOOGL:NASDAQ) use Echo and Nest devices to keep Alexa and Gemini in homes, so they face a smarter rival for the same kitchen counter.
For Apple holders, October 30 counts more. If Siri AI works well on day one, the home lineup becomes a credible Services feeder. If early reviews flag lingering Siri gaps, the case for these devices driving a home-business recovery would weaken.
