But gains in futures were limited by caution ahead of the third quarter earnings season, which is set to begin in earnest with a host of major banks set to report on Monday.
Focus this week is also on consumer price index inflation data for more cues on the path of interest rates.
S&P 500 Futures rose 0.2% to 7,876.25 points by 20:53 ET (00:53 GMT). Dow Jones Futures rose 0.3% to 31,198.75 points, while Dow Jones Futures rose 0.25% to 52,058.0 points.
Futures were encouraged by a drop in oil prices, which fell sharply on Sunday evening after Trump said Russia and Ukraine had agreed to an energy ceasefire.

Falling oil in turn helped cool some concerns over sticky energy-driven inflation.
Focus this week is squarely on the third-quarter earnings season, which is set to begin in earnest from Tuesday with a host of major Wall Street banks set to report.
JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:JPM), Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:GS), Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC), and Citigroup Inc (NYSE:C) are set to report third-quarter prints on Tuesday, as are pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) and insurance major Unitedhealth Group (NYSE:UNH).
Chipmaking bellwether ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) will report on Wednesday, as will Bank of America Corp (NYSE:BAC), Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS), and BlackRock Inc (NYSE:BLK).
Prints from a host of major technology companies are due next week, and are expected to offer more cues on the artificial intelligence trade.
