Mystery team in Marvin Harrison trade steps forward, as Texans DeMeco Ryans confirms reunion with CJ Stroud

Video ‘Not sure’ C.J. Stroud is good enough, Packers under pressure, Cowboys Super Bowl contenders? | FTF NFL Training Camp continues, and Danny Parkins asks if C.J. Stroud is good enough to lead the Houston Texans, whether or not the Green Bay Packers offense can carry the team until Micah Parsons returns, and if the Dallas Cowboys’ offense can make them Super Bowl Contenders.

The Houston Texans beat the Tennessee Titans on Sunday for their first victory of the season, but that's not the reason coach DeMeco Ryans left his postgame news conference with a big laugh and smile.

He was asked if the Texans are indeed one of the teams interested in trading for Arizona Cardinals receiver Marvin Harrison.

And since he was already in a good mood, Ryans made it official.

"You guys want to know, huh," Ryans said between chuckles. "Yes, alright, we traded for Marvin Harrison.

An NFL source told OutKick the Texans are sending a second and sixth-round pick to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for Harrison and a seventh-round pick.

The Texans were one of multiple teams that talked to the Cardinals about the former first-round wide receiver as a trade target in recent days, as OutKick reported on Saturday.

But the lure for the Texans was tied to the fact Harrison played with quarterback C.J. Stroud at Ohio State — a combination that made both top-four draft picks in back-to-back years, 2023 and 2024.

Plus, the Texans have need on the outside because, other than Nico Collins, they have had difficulty finding a playmaker on the perimeter.

Harrison hasn't been the star the Cardinals, or anyone, expected outside since he was drafted. That's how a first-round investment turns into a second-round in-season trade 33 NFL games later.

But the Texans obviously believe they can help Harrison meet their potential.

It is suddenly an optimistic time for the Texans. They are 1-4 and are buyers before the November trade deadline.

And Ryans told his players after Sunday's win, "let's go do something special."
